The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds Charity (RSPB) was founded in 1889 to counter the barbarous trade of plumes in women's hats, a fashion responsible for the destruction of many thousands of egrets, birds of paradise and other bird species.

The RSPB work is driven by a passionate belief that we all have a responsibility to protect birds and the environment. Bird populations reflect the health of the planet on which our future depends. The need for an effective bird conservation organisation has never been greater. Climate change, agricultural intensification, expansion of urban areas and transport infrastructure, and over-exploitation of our seas all pose major threats to birds.

Show your support for the RSPB by either joining its 1 million plus members in the UK or shopping online in the RSPB shop. RSPB membership helps birds, wildlife and the environment and enables people to get close to nature. From just £35 a year for adults, members receive a magazine 4 times a year, entry to over 100 nature reserves and a free joining gift. Alternatively, the RSPB Shop sells high quality bird food, feeders and bird feeding accessories and seasonal gifts, and 100% of profit goes to conservation!

How your donations to Royal Society for Protection of Birds Charity will be used?

Royal Society for Protection of Birds Charity

The RSPB speaks out for birds and wildlife, tackling the problems that threaten our environment. With the support of RSPB members, the RSPB can continue their valuable conservation work on nature reserves and in the wider countryside.

  • Campaign on behalf of birds and the environment
  • Own and manage nature reserves where wildlife can flourish and people can get closer to nature
  • Research the problems facing birds and the environment
  • Carry out recovery projects for many threatened species
  • Help everybody enjoy the natural world and learn more about it

For every £1 of your membership fee, the RSPB channel 90 pence into their current and future conservation projects, so you can be confident that your money is having a real impact.
