Sail the Solent

Action Medical Research's first sailing event, Sail the Solent, takes place on 9-12 October. Sailing legend Sir Robin Knox-Johnston and female star of the sea, Dee Caffari MBE, have given their backing to this new fundraising challenge. The registration fee is £49.

Dee Caffari, MBE, the first woman to sail solo, non-stop around the world in both directions, has also embraced the spirit of the challenge. She says: 'Sail the Solent is a great way to experience the world of yacht racing in a fun environment while raising money for Action Medical Research. You will be amazed how quickly skills are acquired and how competitive you can get in just one weekend. The Isle of Wight has a beautiful coastline with villages and bays as well as the iconic landmarks that will all be passed during the 60-mile race. On a boat there is a job for everyone whatever your experience level so why not sign up for a great weekend?'
