Concern Gifts

Concern Gifts enables people to buy fun and quirky presents for their friends and family that will also help someone living in poverty. With over 20 gifts to choose from, there's something for everyone - from adorable piglets and donkeys to vital school supplies and emergency food.

A small group of determined people started Concern in response to appeals from missionaries working in war torn Biafra in 1968. Africa Concern, as it was then known, was formally established in the home of Kay and John O'Loughlin Kennedy on 19 March 1968. Since then, Concern has gone on to work in over 50 countries, responding to major emergencies as well as working in long term development programmes.

By buying a gift from Concern Gifts, you are helping to fund Concern Worldwide's projects around the world. Concern Worldwide is an international humanitarian organisation. With over 40 years' experience, they have projects in 28 countries worldwide, helping people living in poverty to improve their lives everyday.

When someone orders a Concern Gift, Concern Gifts will send them a big thank you, along with a special gift card for each gift they buy. The card will have a picture of the present, explains why it is needed and has room for a personalised message. Alternatively, they can also choose to send a personalised e-card to their lucky gift recipient.

How your donations to Concern Gifts will be used?

All the money raised goes into one of their five global programmes (unless otherwise stated) - education, livelihoods, HIV & AIDS, health and emergency. So if you buy some school supplies for example, your money will go into the education programme and a school could receive text books and pens. And if you buy a goat, your money will go into the livelihoods programme and a family could get a goat. However, sometimes a family needs beehives or a donkey more than they need a goat. In that case, we'd put your money towards providing one of those instead. Whatever you choose, we promise your money will go into the relevant programme.

The work of Concern Worldwide focuses on five key areas:

• Education - providing basic education for those who need it most
• Emergencies - responding to emergencies and preventing disasters
• Health - reducing mortality rates and improving health by developing sustainable health care systems and supporting public health programmes
• HIV and AIDS - implementing programmes worldwide to combat the disease
• Livelihoods - reducing poverty and improving people's livelihoods

Concern Gifts have great gifts ranging from £7.00 for a water filter right up to £4,050 for solar powered broadband so there should be something for everyone.
