Donate nowBreakthrough Breast Cancer is the UK's leading charity committed to fighting breast cancer through research, campaigning and education.
One in nine women in the UK will develop breast cancer at some point in their lives and 1,000 women die from it each month. Breakthrough's world-class research focuses on discovering the causes of different types of breast cancer and developing new, more effective treatments to help more women survive. In the long term, Breakthrough Breast Cancer hope to reach a point with their research that will enable them to prevent breast cancer.
Through Breakthrough's programme of scientific research, they aim to identify better methods for diagnosing breast cancer accurately, develop more effective tailored treatments and find ways to prevent breast cancer in the future.
You can support Breakthrough Breast Cancer in a variety of ways including donating, fundraising, campaigning, starting a Breakthrough Group in your area or by taking part in a Breakthrough fundraising event such as an organised adventure trek, parachute jump or by joining the Breakthrough Running Club.

Before 1999, £8.8m was awarded for the building of the Breakthrough Research Centre. In 2008, Breakthrough awarded over £8 million in research grants and they expect to award a similar amount in 2009.
