Founded in 1972, ActionAid has been fighting poverty worldwide for over 30 years. In 2003, ActionAid's work reached almost 13 million people in Africa, Asia and the Americas.

ActionAid is a unique partnership of people who are fighting for a world without poverty, in which every person can exercise their right to a life of dignity. They work with poor and marginalised people to help eradicate poverty by overcoming the injustice and inequity that cause it.

Sponsor a child and help a whole community fight their poverty!

Child sponsorship helps communities in the developing world take control of their lives and overcome their own poverty.

Child sponsorship links supporters with a child in a poor community. They get to see how the life of their child and their whole community improves through child messages and reports from the field. Child sponsorship costs £15 per month.

Child sponsorship is a very important part of the work of ActionAid in the most impoverished of communities.

How your donations to ActionAid Charity will be used?

ActionAid has six life changing priority projects that need vital funding as well as their ongoing campaigns including Sponsor a Child! Raise money and support any of the following ActionAid priorty projects:

• HIV & AIDS in Cambodia - community education on HIV & AIDS for a year from £290
• Schools in Haiti - a school well for 300 children from £2919
• Street children in India - a safe haven for 20 children from £1200
• Climate change in Malawi - a week of school meals for 1000 children from £100
• Safe water in Uganda - clean school toilet facilities from £1500
• Emergencies Worldwide - special prridge for a malnourished child for a month from £6

60% of the funds you raise for ActionAid will go directly towards the project(s) you have chosen to support with the remaining 40% used to support the work of ActionAid where the need is greatest, helping ActionAid respond quickly to unforeseen circumstances.

ActionAid improves the lives of people every day but that isn't enough. ActionAid works relentlessly to breed change for those trapped in poverty and increasing the chances of ending poverty for good.
